founding member and official spokesman of the Sunni militant jihadist organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant who was described as the chief strategist of ISIL's external operations and is considered as the second most senior leader of the Islamic State terror group after its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi whose calls for attacks against the West and other countries during Ramadan led to mass bloodshed in recent memory with followers carrying out lone-wolf terrorist attacks including the Orlando nightclub shooting, the truck attack in the French city of Nice and a massive suicide bombing in Baghdad earlier this year.
